Flagship Artifact
A storyboard concept for a calm, Khmer-language patient education video designed to explain GI procedure preparation, procedure-day expectations, recovery, warning signs, and when to ask for help.
This storyboard is part of the Khmer GI Patient Education Design Framework & Learning Toolkit. It demonstrates how patient education can move beyond translated documents into a calm, visual, audio-supported multimedia experience for Khmer-speaking LEP patients preparing for colonoscopy or endoscopy.
The video concept is inspired by clear onboarding-style instructional videos: short, calm, step-by-step, visual, and designed to reduce anxiety before the patient arrives for care.
Some patients may not read Khmer or English confidently, and some may feel overwhelmed by medical forms, preparation instructions, or procedure-day uncertainty. A short Khmer-language video can help patients see and hear what to expect, review key steps more than once, and prepare with more confidence.
This storyboard is a sample multimedia learning concept only. It does not replace provider explanation, clinic instructions, consent processes, professional interpretation, discharge paperwork, or emergency guidance.

This storyboard connects the patient journey module flow, learner profile, teach-back checklist, and sample visual handout into a multimedia learning experience. The goal is to help patients understand, remember, and act on key instructions through multiple pathways: seeing, hearing, reading, asking, repeating, and reviewing.
Future versions could include separate videos for colonoscopy preparation, upper endoscopy preparation, procedure-day expectations, and post-procedure care. Each version would require plain-language Khmer scripting, clinical review, cultural review, accessibility review, captioning, audio narration, and user feedback before use in a real care setting.
This multimedia storyboard is the fifth flagship artifact for the Khmer GI Patient Education Design Framework & Learning Toolkit. It supports the larger goal of creating an integrated clinic-facing learning system that can educate, orient, reassure, and check understanding for Khmer-speaking LEP patients before and after GI procedures.
